Long Lost Cause

Now I have never lived my life in any special way,
But I have avoided pitfalls of the present day.
That often means I have to fight to keep my standards high,
But with God beside me I am heading for the sky.

The world may say I'm fighting for a long, lost cause.
Fighting too many wars, for a long, lost cause,
But if you think I'm fighting for a long , lost cause,
Then your happiness and love, they must have died with my cause.
Your happiness and love, been crucified with my cause.

Now if you ever get to me I know you will find
I have many failings like the rest of human kind.
That often means I go astray when trusting my own skill
But without God beside me I will only do his will.
Empires after empires come and leave their mark on man,
They leave behind a war-torn world that did not run to plan.
But God's great kingdom shall endure throughout eternity,
He's got a mighty army and they number more than me.
